The first day of the Billboard Live Music Summit concluded with the Billboard Live Music Awards on Tuesday at the Montage in Beverly Hills. With comedian Roy Wood Jr. handling the hosting duties, some of the biggest names in the music industry were celebrated and took home awards.
The night's highest honor went to recent Billboard cover star John Mayer, who took home the Legend of Live Award for his extensive touring career and ongoing contributions to the industry. In his acceptance speech, Mayer told the audience that he manages to get the job done thanks to the friends that he's working with while on the road, saying they eventually become his family. He closed out the ceremony with a standing ovation from the audience.
Other honorees for the evening included Shawn Mendes, who accepted the inaugural artist of the year award; Live Nation's Kelly Stelbasky, receiving the inaugural Chip Hooper award; and first-ever comedian of the year Sebastian Maniscalco.
Big award winners for the evening also included Post Malone, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. Post edged out Cardi B and Maluma for the breakthrough artist award, Swift won the top U.S. tour award and Sheeran was the top world tour winner.
