Miley Cyrus Mourns the Loss of Voice Singer Janice Freeman: Thank You for Everything

Miley Cyrus is mourning the loss of former Voice contestant Janice Freeman, who unexpectedly died Saturday (March 2) at the age of 33.

Cyrus took to her Instagram Story on Sunday after news broke that Freeman passed away from an apparent blood clot that traveled to her heart.

"Thank you @janicefreeman ... for everything. This represents you perfectly --" Cyrus wrote across a photo of a rainbow.

Cyrus served as a judge on season 13 of The Voice in 2017, the same year Freeman was a contestant on the show. Freeman was on "Team Miley" and made it to the top 11. She and Cyrus stayed close after the show ended, and Cyrus even helped Freeman financially when she was in need of a place to live, TMZ reports.

TMZ confirmed with her family that Freeman was at home in Pasadena, Calif., with her husband, Dion, on Saturday when she started having trouble breathing. After Dion called 911, she was brought to the hospital, where she died later that evening of an apparent blood clot.

Billboard has reached out to a representative for The Voice for comment.

Jennifer Hudson, who was also a judge during season 13, also shared her condolences for the loss of Freeman on social media.

"The voice of hers we got to hear and the bit of life we got to watch her live was a blessing and inspiration to us all!" Hudson wrote.
