Veteran communications exec Amanda Collins has returned to the music business after seven years in the wilds of film and television. Sony Music Entertainment announced on Monday that Collins has joined the label group as executive vice president and global head of corporate communications, in charge of internal and external messaging strategies worldwide.
Collin joins SME after less than a year at IMAX, where she served as global head of communications. Prior to that, she was vp of corporate communications and marketing at NBCUniversal for six and a half years. Before joining the peacock, Collins spent eight years crafting strategic messaging as vp of corporate communication and marketing at Warner Music Group -- a tenure that notably included the company's 2005 IPO and the industry's transition to digital. She also spent several years as the official spokesperson for the RIAA.
"Amanda is a highly respected executive who understands the media and entertainment landscape and the important role that strategic communications play in successful collaboration with the creative community and our business partners," said Sony Music CEO Rob Stringer, to whom she'll report along with COO Kevin Kelleher. "Her leadership and expertise in driving media transformation narratives will help us innovate as we continue to tell the story of Sony Music’s ongoing growth and evolution in a dynamically changing industry."
Added Collins, who is based in NYC: “Rob and Kevin have an exciting vision for Sony Music’s future and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of it during this next chapter of the music business. I look forward to working with them and the talented team they have built around the world as we advance Sony Music’s industry leadership and success in support of its iconic roster of artists."
