It's been 40 years since Elvis Costello and Blondie shared top billings on the UK Singles Chart, with the Debbie Harry-led "Heart of Glass” going neck-and-neck with Costello & The Attraction’s "Oliver's Army" and both songs finishing in the top 20 for the year.
In honor of the groups' long friendship and past collaborations -- as well as the 40th anniversary of Blondie's Parallel Lines, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Albums Chart in 1979, and Costello's Armed Forces, which reached No. 3 -- the two Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees are planning a co-headlining tour produced by Live Nation, kicking off July 20 at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in New York.
Elvis Costello & The Imposters and Blondie's 13-city tour will run visit Boston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and more, before wrapping Aug. 10 at Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery near Seatlte.
Blondie is touring in support of the 2017 album Pollinator, their most collaborative album yet with songs like "Best Day Ever" written by Sia and Nick Valensi from the Strokes, Charli XCX for the synth-rock flare-up "Gravity," and Dev Hynes, who co-wrote "Long Time" with Harry. Harry is expected to release her memoir later this year.
Elvis Costello & The Imposters -- which include Steve Nieve on keyboards, Davey Faragher on bass and Pete Thomas on drums -- will be playing songs from Costello's deep catalog including the band's 2018 record, Look Now, on Concord Records.
Artist fan club presale tickets will be available starting Tuesday (April 2) at 12 p.m. local time. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Saturday (April 6) at 10 a.m. local time at LiveNation.com.
