Magnetic Muse Chapter 2 is the feminine yin to the masculine yang of Chapter 1, and to introduce it, Canadian artist Alyssa Rose Hunt chose “Vibe With You,” a breezy, dreamy number about chilling out with someone you love.

“‘Vibe With You’ is a very poppy, upbeat song, with very positive vibes,” she said.

The band, the one with which she created the album, is a live band, featuring guitar, keyboard and drums.

The drum solo that closes out the song is the very definition of “just vibing.”

“That’s something that I thought was pretty unique, and I wanted to add it to the song.”

The band is drummer Sam Ruttan, keyboardist and producer Fresco Rhodes, and guitarist Dan Espina. With the band, Alyssa performs at live venues, and together they created Alyssa’s fourth album, Magnetic Muse, the two-part exploration of what she calls the “twin-flame journey” she has been on with her music since 2020.

“With the melodies and the lyrics, I come up with some type of feeling that I’d like to portray, and then I work alongside Dan and Sam with their instruments. Then Fresco, since he is the producer, as he works with me, puts it all together. He brings the magic to everything. It’s very collaborative, for sure.”

Chapter 2, she said, is self discovery.

“It’s about finding the feminine energy within myself, because everyone has masculine and feminine energy. The instrumentation of Magnetic Muse, Chapter 2, is more focused on very flowing, feminine energy. Chapter 1 was very bold instrumentation, very rock inspired.”

“Vibe With You” is more on the fun side of things rather than the introspective.

“The music video is very much about my mom, and it was mostly dedicated to her, the song and the video. She really likes pop music, and I wanted to give her a pop song to enjoy.”

She and the band are the video’s stars.

In fact, mom shares inspiration for song, video and Alyssa’s wardrobe with Peter Pan — Alyssa is wearing a fuzzy, furry pantsuit with a teddy bear motif.

“What I was wearing was inspired by a sweater mom used to wear when I was a kid.” The song’s connection to Peter Pan comes through the bears.

“Wendy always had a bear,” she said, “and connecting to Peter Pan is about connecting to the theme of wanting to keep that childlike playfulness in life, of not wanting to grow up and be an adult and, you know, experience bills and taxes.”

Hence, “The song itself is very poppy, and it’s very upbeat to keep that inner child and happiness flowing.”

The Peter Pan inspiration, this time through Tinker Bell, factors into another song on the album, “High,” “so very dreamy, very fairy like, very feminine.”

Alyssa’s artistry and creativity encompass more than music — acting, dance, choreography, directing, writing, painting, modeling and photography — but since 2020 music has become more and more of a focus in her career as a multifaceted artist.

In her self-bio, she says that, facing mental health struggles, she “found solace in writing music as a medium of expression,” and within the next three years produced four albums and seven singles and independently produced and published eight music videos.

“It definitely was very therapeutic for me to write music and get my thoughts on paper, figure out what was going on with myself. Now that I’m out with my career, I would love to push myself in storytelling. I studied acting at York University, and I’ve always been into film, so, I really want to blend those two together, the music and the acting. I love to put on a show for people.”

She plans three more videos for songs on Chapter 2, “High,” “Times Six” (inspired by “That ’70s Show”) and “Freedom.”

She describes her genre as R&B and soul because “that made the most sense in my head.”

“But I find it so hard nowadays to choose a certain genre, because I’m inspired by pop, soul, R&B, blues, jazz, and I don’t want to restrict myself when it comes to creating.”

Yin, yang, self-discovery, mom, Peter Pan, artistry, creativity, inspiration — all of them come together when she says, “I feel that my music comes from my soul.”
