PLANET ZYHA—the multi-genre duo known for cinematic storytelling and mesmerizing performance art—is set to release their latest single, “Angel,” featuring FAWNA. Complete with a music video that draws audiences into the wider universe of PLANET ZYHA, the single is an experience not to be missed.
The husband and wife/amBASSadors duo create synergy with their respective skill sets to bring the project to life. Mirek Hamlet is a DJ and producer with an unstoppable creative drive. Ariane Lilith is a multitalented art direction and performance professional who creates the LED design and art for their live performances. She also sings on some of the group’s records. Together, they mesh genres including alternative dance, experimental bass, Leftfield bass, and space bass to create their own sound.
Prior to landing on PLANET ZYHA, Mirek was in an electronic band, while Ariane focused on performing for DJs and music festivals. “She would join me with the band all the time,” shared Mirek. “Eventually, we thought we should start a project, and it came together naturally. We had the idea for many years before starting.”
Mirek and Ariane were fans of FAWNA before collaborating with her for “Angel.” “We listened to FAWNA a lot. She’s in our friend group, so we went naturally from fans to friends.”
“Our music is usually instrumental,” shares Mirek. “But this song specifically can be considered a downtempo, psybient, electronica blend. For this song, we were looking for a specific voice. It’s a cover of a Massive Attack song, and we wanted the single to have an ethereal vibe. She had the perfect voice for it.”
An artist in her own right, FAWNA has been performing for more than eight years, a seasoned performer on the brink of her big break. “FAWNA has a bigger reach than us, but we’re not in the same scene,” explains Mirek. “She’s more involved in R&B with some exploration in the EDM scene. So, we all thought it would be great for this single to create a big buzz.”
“I’ve collaborated with other EDM artists,” adds FAWNA. “It’s nice to branch from my usual sound. It’s one I’m exploring more lately. It makes sense for all of us to come together for this project.”
The music video for “Angel” is the group’s fifth DIY video. “This one is special because it’s shot in front of a green screen. We used AI for visuals, with humans as the primary elements. Everything around is AI. The technique is original in itself because we’re not using AI as an end, rather as the means to create ingredients in the video. We use it to convey our mission and convey our storytelling.”
“It’s the first time showing PLANET ZYHA in our video and bringing people into our universe. On stage, we have the audience imagining PLANET ZYHA through other mediums. In this video, they can see all the tribes and people that exist there. Now they can see there’s a bigger world behind it as we dip our toes into this new universe.”
Launched in 2023, PLANET ZYHA has been ever evolving and widening into the universe they call home. “It’s important for us to invite people to have hope and endless creativity. We want them to reach their full, authentic selves and reach out for more through a quest for higher potential,” adds Ariane.
Fans of PLANET ZYHA can look forward to the release of their first album in November. The full album will explore the wider themes of their moon visions—the gold, blood, and crazy mood moons. “This album is our first album, based on the whole universe,” they add. “It’s our muse and vision that we are trying to express through music. ‘Angel’ is a blood moon song—dark, red, sexy. The album will be the whole story, featuring the different tribes of the planet, their conflicts, moons, and more. It will be a full immersive experience.”
PLANET ZYHA wants to remind listeners that their storytelling goes beyond the music. “It’s a show. We want fans to live the experience in real life through the visuals we’ve created.”
