Wassim "Sal" Slaiby, CEO of SAL&CO/Maverick and XO Records, has announced he is joining Global Citizen's advisory board.
Under the new position, he will help provide guidance to the international advocacy organization's leadership team around the movement's mission to end extreme poverty by 2030.
Last week, the Lebanon-born executive, who was named No. 53 on this year's Power 100 list, joined Global Citizen and TIDAL's pre-Grammy celebrations where his client French Montana was announced as Global Citizen's newest Ambassador, championing universal health coverage and education in Africa and developing communities across the world.
Slaiby also manages The Weeknd (co-managed by Amir "Cash" Esmailian), Belly and Massari, producer-songwriters DaHeala, Dannyboy, Ben Billions and Breyan Isaac.
Working with Montana, inspired by shooting the rapper's "Unforgettable" music video, last year Slaiby teamed with Global Citizen and Mama Hope to help build a hospital in Uganda.
"The Suubi Hospital Mission in Uganda meant a lot to me," Slaiby tells Billboard. "Where I come from I never thought I would make it this far, let alone be able to help build a much needed hospital that will have the capacity to serve over 300,000 people in need. This was a very special project for me, French Montana and my team."
He adds, "As a young immigrant that escaped war with nothing, I would never have imagined being where I am today. I'm really excited to join the Global Citizen team. I look forward to continue a legacy and inspire others.”
Global Citizen's advisory board is chaired by Forbes' chief content officer Randall Lane and board members include Live Nation's Lisa Licht, AEG Live's Mark Schulman and Kanye West's manager Izvor Zivkovic among others.

Since 2012, Global Citizen's campaigning efforts have raised over $35 billion in financial commitments to support and benefit global health, education and gender equality.
