A wave of “aaaaaaaaaaaahs,” “uuuuuaaaaaahs,” and “brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs” filled the American Airlines Arena Saturday night (Dec. 8) as Anuel AAmade a pit stop in Miami, Fla. with hisReal Hasta La Muerte tour.
Even though the Latin trap artist served time in prison for gun possession charges, it’s inevitable that his fan base has kept strong and supportive throughout the years. Grateful for new beginnings and opportunities, as he expressed before his show on Instagram stories, Anuel AA took the 305 by storm during the sold-out show of his first-ever U.S. tour.
Hyping the crowd for what would be a nearly two-hour show, the stage displayed a large countdown that started ticking at at the 20-minute mark. Every five minutes, the audience roared with excitement. As the last 10 seconds wrapped, Anuel AA appeared on stage wearing a balaclava and bulletproof vest. He kicked off the show by singing “Na’ Nuevo” before changing into a Miami Heat jersey.
The Puerto Rican singer -- who at some point worked another costume change into the set and donned a Gucci sweater and sparkly joggers at some point -- kept the crowd on their feet as he performed some of his smash hits including “Hipocrita,” “Adictiva” and “La Ocasion.” In between tracks, he would express how lucky he felt performing at the AAA, saying various times that he didn’t need “El Choli” when he had his fans in Miami.
If you recall, Anuel’s debut concert at the Coliseo in Puerto Rico, scheduled for October, was canceled after he posted a diss track aimed at Cosculluela, which was called out on social media for its homophobic lyrics.
The first wave of surprise guests included Brytiago, a young urban artist who began his career at the same time Anuel did. Together, they performed the electrifying remix of “Asesina” for the first time. Prince Royce also surprised at the Miami show, coming out on stage to sing the sensual trap track “Bubalu,” which features Becky G, Mambo Kingz and DJ Luian.
But one of the biggest shockers of the night was when Anuel simply said, “You guys won’t understand it until you light up your phones,” and Bad Bunny appeared on stage. Wearing preppy shorts, sneakers and his “Real Hasta La Muerte” hoodie, Bad Bunny joined Anuel to sing “47 (Remix),” “La Ultima Vez” and “Chambea.” Being their first-ever live performance together, the two Latin trap stars showered the arena with nothing but real bromance vibes.
For a second, fans were convinced that Anuel would bring out Karol G on stage to sing “Culpables,” but he specified that she couldn’t make it and sang the song with the help of the audience.
During the show, Anuel made many references to his life in prison, dedicating raw trap songs to people who are locked up and even singing his hit track “Sola,” which he released when he was behind bars. He especially poured his heart out to “Bebe,” dedicating the song to Tekashi 6ix9ine. “Sing this song as if I were to die today,” he said. “For my brother who is in jail.”
Three outfits later -- after a show that delivered an impeccable sound, six professional dancers, an electric chair with strip poles and a vibrant stage design -- Anuel AA bid farewell to his Miami crowd singing two of the songs that hit home: “Ella Quiere Beber” and “Brindemos.”
