After departing from Epic Records, L.A. Reid's main focus has been building up his HITCO Entertainment label. On Tuesday (April 30), HITCO officially announced a joint venture alongside At The Studio Records, a Chicago-based label and creative collective helmed by producer William "Lpeezy" Jones, who made a name for himself working with some of the best Chitown has to offer at his studio.
"At ATS, we have a deep passion for and commitment to music and culture, and this joint venture will allow us to continue to identify and nurture talent and build out a diverse roster of influential artists," Lpeezy tells Billboard. The ATS roster currently boasts a few bubbling acts coming out of Chicago including HappyBirthdayCalvin, 8MatikLogan, and BJRNCK.
"We aim to deliver consistently refreshing and high-quality music and to become a destination for young creatives coming up in the music scene. I couldn’t be more excited to join HITCO. I am looking forward to a successful partnership and the opportunity to utilize new resources to develop emerging artists into multi-platinum, award-winning superstars."
For ATS' first move following the partnership announcement, HappyBirthdayCalvin recruits fellow Chicago native G Herbo to hop on the "No Friends" remix, which releases on Friday (May 3).
