Jay-Z and Eminem have been credited on the same track for the first time since 2001’s Renegade.
Details have emerged about a new collaborative project featuring Rakim, Kurupt and Masta Killa, set for release on August 28.
Executive producer Matthew “M80” Markoff shared a handwritten tracklist preview on Instagram that included both artists’ names on one of the interludes, while also calling the project “AOTY 2026”.
Markoff later explained that Jay-Z and Eminem do not actually rap on the track, but instead appear on an interlude that pays tribute to Rakim’s legacy. He told Rolling Stone: “Em and Jay do not have verses on the interlude. The entire album… was recorded in the past two years."
The album also features a heavyweight lineup of guests including Snoop Dogg, KRS-One, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Buckshot and Daz Dillinger, positioning it as a major celebration of hip-hop legends.
Renegade originally appeared on Jay-Z’s The Blueprint album.
Meanwhile, Jay-Z is preparing for two major live shows following his acclaimed Roots Picnic appearance. He is scheduled to perform in Paris on September 10 and Los Angeles on October 23, with tickets available through Citi and Mastercard presales on June 11 before general sale opens on June 12 at 10am local time.
As for Eminem, a previously unreleased track titled Everybody’s Looking At Me was made available to stream last summer.
The rare release was included on the STANS: THE OFFICIAL SOUNDTRACK connected to the Eminem-produced documentary STANS.
Produced by long-time collaborator Dr. Dre, the track opens with a fiery 2002 Funkmaster Flex freestyle, instantly taking listeners back to the raw sound of the The Eminem Show era. Long believed to be an unreleased cut from that album, the song is thought to incorporate elements from The Kiss (Skit), supporting theories it was originally intended for the 2002 project. More than twenty years later, the full version was officially released, featuring Dre’s production and Eminem’s reflections on fame, scrutiny and the pressures of celebrity life.
Eminem’s most recent studio album was 2024’s The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace).
