Listen To The Avalanches And Jamie xx’s New Track ‘Every Single Weekend’

Listen To The Avalanches And Jamie xx’s New Track ‘Every Single Weekend’

The Avalanches have unveiled their latest single, "Every Single Weekend", a sun soaked collaboration with Jamie xx. Check it out below.

The Melbourne electronic outfit returned last month with "Together", a nostalgic new track featuring Nikki Nair, Jessy Lanza and Prentiss. It marked their first original release in six years.

Now they have followed it up with another infectious new song, "Every Single Weekend". The track originally appeared as a brief interlude near the closing stages of Jamie xx's 2024 album "In Waves".

Both the song and its accompanying video take a playful swipe at the empty promises and overly polished language often found in advertising campaigns. It also continues a long running creative relationship between The Avalanches and Jamie xx, following collaborations on "Wherever You Go" from "We Will Always Love You" and the 2024 release "All You Children".

The Avalanches shared their excitement about working with Jamie xx again, saying: "We’ve loved collaborating with Jamie xx over the years – his ‘In Colour’ album reignited our passion for sampling, and this track is all about letting go, forgetting the 9-5 grind and enjoying every single weekend."

The recent singles represent the first new material from the group since their 2020 album "We Will Always Love You". That record followed 2016's "Wildflower", which itself arrived 16 years after their influential debut album "Since I Left You".

The group also recently made a surprise appearance at a free party at OM in East London, where they performed back to back sets alongside Yu Su, Nikki Nair and Baalti.

NME spoke with The Avalanches in 2020 about the enduring legacy of their celebrated 2000 debut album "Since I Left You".

"‘Since I Left You’s shadow got bigger and bigger every year," Tony Di Blasi said.

"I still remember four years [after it was released] my girlfriend at the time said, ‘You know people say it’s a really classic record?’" Robbie Chater added. "I’d never heard anybody say that. I just heard all the shit I should’ve done better."

"Now it’s 20, the little kid’s all grown up!" Di Blasi exclaimed.

"I have a great relationship with the album now," Chater continued. "It sounds like a very young me made it. It’s naïve, heart-on-sleeve, it was never cool or ironic. It was passionate, of the moment, full of joy."

Elsewhere, The Avalanches recently contributed music to Massive Attack's "Piccadilly Un" installation in London.
