Shania Twain Plays Surprise 200-Capacity Gig At The Shacklewell Arms In London

Shania Twain performed a rare intimate show at The Shacklewell Arms in London on Friday night (June 6). Check out footage from the performance below.

The Grammy Award winning country pop star took over the stage at the 200 capacity Dalston venue for what marked one of her smallest performances in decades. Fans could only secure tickets through a ballot system.

During the show, Twain reflected on her early years performing in small venues and explained how the night reminded her of where her journey began, singing in bars as a child.

“They would say, ‘Welcome to the stage, little miss Twain’, and that was me! And I would sing my little country songs, and little did I know I would be all the way over here,” she told the audience while looking back on those early experiences. “I’m so happy to be here and be reliving some of my youth.”

Alongside crowd favourites such as ‘Still The One’ and ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’, Twain also treated fans to cover versions of Kenny Rogers’ ‘The Gambler’ and Rednex’s ‘Cotton Eye Joe’.

She kicked off the evening with her latest single, ‘Dirty Rosie’, taken from her forthcoming seventh studio album, ‘Little Miss Twain’. Speaking about the record, she explained that it is “all based on my life before I got my record contract”.

“And I only got signed in Nashville, Tennessee, when I was in my late twenties, so this was a long buildup,” she continued. “I promise you, I was playing these very same kind of bars all those years from the age of eight years old to my late twenties, and little Miss Twain was trying to become a recording artist. The rest of the story is on the album; you’ll have to listen to the album.”

The special club show comes ahead of her upcoming stint opening for Harry Styles during his record breaking 12 night residency at Wembley Stadium, which begins next week and continues into July. Twain is also due to headline a major concert at Thomond Park Stadium in Limerick, Ireland, on July 7.

‘Little Miss Twain’ is scheduled for release on July 24 through Republic Records. The album follows her 2023 release, ‘Queen Of Me’.

Speaking with NME around the release of her previous album, Twain reflected on the first time she was described as “iconic”. The moment came after ‘Up!’ became the first and, so far, only album trilogy by a female solo artist to achieve three consecutive diamond certifications in the United States.

“That was when [the icon thing] began, because that was an iconic thing,” she told us. “I think as I was achieving things, I was too busy to celebrate them in the moment. You know, I guess I’m such a committed professional that it’s almost like I just put the blinders on and work.”

In 2024, Twain fulfilled a long held ambition by taking on the prestigious Legends Slot at Glastonbury. That same summer, she also headlined BST Hyde Park in London.

Last autumn, Twain joined forces with Sabrina Carpenter at Austin City Limits, where the pair performed a collaborative version of ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’.
