J Balvin & Willy Willams Mi Gente Continues to Build on Latin Charts

J Balvin and Willy William’s “Mi Gente” is building steam on the Hot Latin Songschart in its fifth charting week, as the song holds at No. 2 for the third frame in a row (on the Aug. 19-dated list).

The single is up 7 percent in total chart points, though it’s still trailing Luis Fonsiand Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber (down 7 percent in total chart points), by a huge margin. “Despacito,” meanwhile, is No. 1 on the list for a 27th week and No. 1 for a 13th week on the Billboard Hot 100.

“Mi Gente” claims the Hot Latin Songs chart’s Greatest Gainer honors for both airplay and streaming. It hikes 9 percent in airplay (to 17 million in the week ending Aug. 6, according to Nielsen Music) and 7 percent in streams (rising to 15 million in the week ending Aug. 3).

“Mi Gente” stands at No. 2 on both the Latin Digital Song Sales and Latin Streaming Songs charts (also trailing “Despacito”), and No. 3 on Latin Airplay. Additionally, the song reaches a new peak on the Hot 100, as the track jumps 30-28.

Danny Ocean Makes Waves: Elsewhere on the Hot Latin Songs chart, Danny Ocean’s first chart hit, “Me Rehuso,” rises 16-13, with an 18 percent gain in chart points in its 15th week on the list. The song has been a slow builder on the chart, gaining in points for 10 consecutive weeks.

The song’s rise is aided by its debut on the Latin Airplay chart, as the track leaps 65 percent to 4 million audience impressions in the week ending Aug. 6, according to Nielsen Music.

Banda Los Recoditos' 11th Top 10 on Regional Mexican Songs: Finally, Banda Los Recoditos earns its 11th top 10 hit on the Regional Mexican Songs chart, as “No Le Hago Falta” moves 12-8. The song leaps 22 percent to 6 million audience impressions.

Leading the charge for the track’s airplay at the format are KSCA Los Angeles (737,000 in audience) and KLAX Los Angeles (512,000). Combined, the two stations accounted for about 21 percent of the song’s audience for the week.

Concurrently, “No Le Hago Falta” rises 41-36 on Hot Latin Songs, notching the 15th consecutive top 40 hit for the band on the tally.
