Dua Lipa’s “New Rules” (Warner Bros) is ruling the U.K.’s midweek sales survey as new pop releases by Little Mix & CNCO and Justin Bieber give chase for this week’s chart title.
The British singer-songwriter’s track hasn’t budged from the chart zenith since it climbed 5-1 last week. It’s leading the Official Singles Chart Update, though “Reggaeton Lento” (Remix via Syco Music) by Latin American boy band CNCOand British girl group Little Mix, is close behind at No. 2 while Justin Bieber and BloodPop’s “Friends” (Def Jam/Polydor/Republic) is new at No. 3, according to the Official Chart Company. Just 2,000 combined sales separate the top 3 at the midway point of the chart week.
Also making a tilt for the top is Pink’s “What About Us” (RCA), the current Australian chart topper which improves 5-4 on the U.K. midweek chart, and Calvin Harris’ “Feels” (Columbia) featuring Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry and Big Sean, which slips 2-5.
On the Official Albums Chart Update, prog rocker Steven Wilson is out in front with To The Bone (SW Records), which is almost 2,000 combined sales of ahead of its nearest chart rival, Welsh group Neck Deep’s third LP The Peace and the Panic (Hopeless).
To The Bone is the fifth solo studio album from Wilson, the former Porcupine Tree frontman. Should it stay put when the weekly chart is published Friday, it’ll easily eclipse Wilson’s career-best chart peak of No. 13, for his 2015 set Hand. Cannot. Erase.
The top five is completed by Elvis Presley’s The 50 Greatest Hits (Sony Music CG), Ed Sheeran’s Divide (Asylum) and Sheffield indie outfit The Sherlocks’debut Live For The Moment (Infectious Music), respectively.
