MTV Video Music Awards Spur 64% Sales Gain for Kendrick Lamar, Fifth Harmony, Logic & More

The 2017 MTV Video Music Awards generated a sizable sales gain in digital song downloads for tracks performed on the Aug. 27 show, according to Nielsen Music.

Collectively, those songs earned a 64 percent sales gain on Aug. 27, as compared to Aug. 26, rising from 46,000 to 75,000 downloads sold.

Some of the biggest gainers included Kendrick Lamar’s show-opening medley of “DNA” and “Humble,” which saw sales increases of 47 percent and 41 percent, respectively. “Humble” also took home multiple awards on the show, including video of the year.

Other notable gains: Pink’s hits medley collected a 70 percent overnight sales increase, Alessia Cara’s “Scars To Your Beautiful” rose 181 percent, and Fifth Harmony’s “Down” jumped 205 percent. Demi Lovato’s “Sorry Not Sorry” sizzled with a 41 percent uptick, while Logic’s performance of “1-800-273-8255” with Cara and Khalid jumped a whopping 185 percent in sales.
