Rick and Morty Song Terryfold Debuts on Hot Rock Songs Chart

Four weeks after Cartoon Network sparked a No. 23 Hot Rock Songs entry in B.E.R.'s "The Night Begins to Shine," from Teen Titans Go!, another act makes the chart with a song from one of the network's properties.

Seattle duo Chaos Chaos bows at No. 33 on the chart dated Sept. 23 with "Terryfold," from Rick & Morty. The song -- which features show co-creator Justin Roiland on vocals -- debuts on the strength of 1.1 million U.S. streams while selling 1,000 downloads (in the week ending Sept. 7, according to Nielsen Music) after its previous-week sum of 2,000 (when it debuted at No. 1 on the Comedy Digital Song Sales chart).

The recent chart appearances are the first for Chaos Chaos, which formed under the name Smoosh in 2000 before changing its name in 2012, as well as Roiland, best known as the voices of both Rick and Morty on the popular Adult Swim series.

“Terryfold” was produced for the “Rest and Ricklaxation” episode of the show that aired Aug. 27 and follows Chaos Chaos’ appearance in an episode two years prior when their track “Do You Feel It?” played over the episode’s closing credits.

Four weeks prior, Cartoon Network (which airs Adult Swim as part of its late-night programming block) charted on Hot Rock Songs with “The Night Begins to Shine” from Teen Titans Go!. The song, produced for the show under the band name B.E.R., peaked at No. 23 (Aug. 26) after the show’s four-part special based around the song aired between Aug. 1-4.
