Warner Music UK Appoints New COO & Chief Transformation Officer

Warner Music UK has announced it is "strengthening its management team" by promoting two senior executives to C-level positions.

Peter Breeden, WMUK's current chief financial officer, will take on added duties as chief operating officer, while strategy development and communications SVP Mel Fox has been promoted to chief transformation officer. Both Breeden and Fox will report to Max Lousada, who becomes ceo of recorded music at Warner Music Group on Oct. 1.

Breeden's responsibilities have expanded his involvement in the company's overall business strategy, helming WMUK’s commercial and brand partnership efforts on top of the finance teams he continues to head up. In her new position, Fox will focus on innovating the company’s original content and production activities.

Breeden, a three-decade veteran of the music business, started as part of the Atlantic Records team in 2001, overseeing various financial operations there and at Warner Music International before landing at WMUK in 2012 as its finance director. Fox, who had previously worked with The Walt Disney Company and Yahoo!, has been with Warner Music International since joining on as VP of corporate communications in 2006.

“Peter and Mel are helping us achieve our collective ambition by pioneering new practices, expanding our expertise, and working hard to deliver outstanding results,” said Max Lousada in a statement. “Having dedicated his professional career to music, Peter is a wise, experienced and trusted advisor to me and our label heads, and he’ll do a tremendous job evolving our central operations so we're even more responsive to the needs of our artists. Through her experiences in a wide range of industries, as well as her contributions to Warner during a decade of disruption, Mel has become an inspiring leader and an insightful, inventive agent for change. I’m very happy to announce these important promotions and look forward to working with Mel, Peter and the wider team as we chart the future of WMUK.”
