A Boogie Wit da Hoodie is the top emerging act in the U.S., as the rapper climbs 3-1 on Billboard's Emerging Artists chart (dated Oct. 14). The jump is aided by Chris Brown's "Pills and Automobiles," on which he's featured with Yo Gotti and Kodak Black, as the track reaches new peaks of No. 23 on Hot Rap Songs and No. 75 on the Billboard Hot 100.
"Pills" rises by 23 percent to 11 million radio audience impressions and by 7 percent to 8 million U.S. streams in the tracking week, according to Nielsen Music.
The Emerging Artists chart uses the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures artist activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50. However, the Emerging Artists chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists that have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard's "Hot" song genre charts and/or consumption-based "Top" album genre rankings.
The Artist 100 coronation follows the release of Boogie's debut studio album The Bigger Artist, which is projected to arrive in the top 10 of next week's Billboard 200 (dated Oct. 21).
Elsewhere on the Artist 100, Why Don't We vaults 17-5, as the boy band makes its Billboard 200 chart debut. The group's EP Invitation arrives at No. 113 on the chart with 7,000 equivalent album units (6,000 in traditional album sales). The act also bullets at No. 34 on Pop Songs with its single "Something Different."
Rounding out the Emerging Artists chart's top five, Lil Pump climbs 4-2, as the rapper's breakthrough single "Gucci Gang" hits a new peak on the Hot 100 at No. 52; Dua Lipa drops 1-3, as her "New Rules" hits a new No. 48 high on the Hot 100; and LANco climbs 5-4, as the group's single "Greatest Love Story" reaches new heights on the Hot 100 (No. 71) and Hot Country Songs chart (No. 8).
