Veikko Fuhrmann, who currently manages La Ley and Beto Cuevas and until recently co-managed Ricky Martin, has launched a concert promotion company that will serve Canada, Billboard has learned.
The first shows presented by We Are Live will be Nicky Jam performing Sept. 1 in Montreal and September 2 in Toronto.
“I produced Ricky Martin and Romeo Santos tours in Canada and realized there are few Canadian promoters focused on bringing Latin acts to Canada and they’re very niche,” Fuhrmann told Billboard. “There are many Latinos living in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, but there are few mainstream Latin events.”
Though it’s fairly common for major Latin tours to make stops in Toronto and Montreal, stops in Calgary and Vancouver are less common.
“It’s an underserved market,” says Fuhrmann, who plans to stage approximately 10 shows between now and the end of the year and is in conversations with several acts.
We Are Live will be based out of Miami but will operate in Canada.
