David Bisbal Named UNICEF Ambassador

Latin music star David Bisbal has been named a UNICEF ambassador by the organization’s Spanish committee.

“The children can’t take any more pain,” the Spanish pop singer said in an announcement distributed by UNICEF Wednesday (April 19). Bisbal called for an end to the war in Syria, where UNICEF puts the number of minors in need of urgent humanitarian aid at over 8 million.

Bisbal, who has collaborated on UNICEF campaigns since 2004, and previously traveled to Venezuela and Nepal with the organization, called the ambassador title “a great responsibility.” He said that in his new role he would work for children to be able to realize their dreams.

“For me it is an honor to be a UNICEF Ambassador and to be able to give voice to children who suffer,” said the artist, who appeared at a press conference with UNICEF representatives in Madrid.

“I want to take advantage of this moment to call attention to children who are suffering injustices with the hope that people will get involved in defending their rights.”
