Halsey Hits No. 1 on Billboard Artist 100

Halsey is the top musical act in the U.S. for the first time, as the singer vaults 21-1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated June 14), marking her first week atop the chart.

The Artist 100, which launched in July 2014, measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.

Halsey’s reign on the chart is powered by her sophomore studio album hopeless fountain kingdom, which arrives at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 106,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending June 8, according to Nielsen Music. Halsey previously peaked at No. 4 on the Artist 100 on Sept. 19, 2015, the same week her first full-length album Badlands debuted on the Billboard 200 at No. 2.

Album sales account for the largest share of Halsey’s Artist 100 points (72 percent) followed by streaming (9 percent) and digital song sales (7 percent).

Among other Artist 100 chart moves, Luke Combs vaults to a new high at No. 10, as the singer’s first full-length album This One’s For You arrives at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart with 43,000 units. Plus, Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys makes his solo debut on the chart at No. 80 following the release of his second studio album Waiting on a Song, which opens at No. 3 on the Americana/Folk Albums chart with 14,000 units.
