Florida Georgia Line and Backstreet Boys Crown Country Airplay; Sam Hunt Makes History

Florida Georgia Line, the duo of Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, earns its 11th No. 1 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart (dated July 8) as "God, Your Mama, and Me," featuring Backstreet Boys, ascends 2-1.

In its 24th week on the chart, the song -- written by Hillary LindseyJosh Kear and Gordie Sampson -- increases 8 percent to 43.7 million audience impressions in the tracking week ending June 25, according to Nielsen Music.

"Waking up to a No. 1 song is the most amazing feeling, and to share this moment with Backstreet Boys is surreal," Hubbard tells Billboard. "We can't thank them enough for being a part of this song."

The third single from FGL's Dig Your Roots album is also the twosome's third straight Country Airplay leader from the set. It follows "May We All," featuring Tim McGraw, which led the chart for two weeks starting on Dec. 10, 2016, and "H.O.L.Y.," which topped the Aug. 6-dated tally. FGL first struck No. 1 on Country Airplay with its debut hit, "Cruise," which led for three weeks beginning Dec. 15, 2012.

Backstreet Boys earn their first Country Airplay No. 1, a feat that fellow late-'90s/early-2000s hit-making boy band 'N SYNC never attained. The latter act, as featured on Alabama's "God Must Have Spent a Little More Time on You," hit No. 3 in 1999. The song updated Justin Timberlake's former group's No. 8 Billboard Hot 100 pop hit earlier that year.

HUNT SETS SOLO RECORD: On Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, which blends airplay, sales and streaming data, Sam Hunt's "Body Like a Back Road" steamrolls to a landmark 20th week at No. 1. The song breaks a tie with Leroy Van Dyke's "Walk On By" (1961-62) for the longest command by a solo artist on the nearly 59-year-old Hot Country Songs chart. It's now solely the second-longest reign overall, trailing only Florida Georgia Line's "Cruise" (24 weeks at No. 1 in 2012 and 2013).

"Body" also rules Country Streaming Songs (16.2 million U.S. streams) and Country Digital Song Sales (47,000 sold) for a 20th week each, while logging a 13th week in the Country Airplay top five (No. 4; 36.8 million in audience) after leading the list for three weeks.

JASON ISBELL & THE 54,000 UNITS: On Top Country Albums, Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit's new LP, The Nashville Sound, arrives at No. 1, earning 54,000 equivalent album units (51,000 in pure sales, a career best) in the week ending June 22. Simultaneously, the set starts atop the Americana/Folk Albums and Top Rock Albums charts and launches at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, marking Isbell's first top 10 on the all-genre ranking.

Isbell earns his second No. 1 on Top Country Albums. His first entry, Something More Than Free, debuted at the summit on Aug. 8, 2015, with 46,000 copies sold.

URBAN, UNDERWOOD CONTINUE STREAKS: Keith Urban's "The Fighter," featuring Carrie Underwood, enters the Country Airplay top 10 (11-10), increasing 3 percent to 30 million impressions.

The pop-flavored collaboration marks Urban's 38th total and consecutive Country Airplay top 10 (counting only promoted and non-seasonal singles). It's the chart's longest active streak of such top 10s, a run that started with the No. 4-peaking "Your Everything" in 2000. As Urban boasts the longest active streak of Country Airplay top 10s, Underwood claims the second-longest: 26, which began with her 2006 No. 1 format debut, "Jesus, Take the Wheel."

"The Fighter" is the fifth top 10 from Urban's eighth studio album, Ripcord, following the No. 2 hit "John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16" and the No. 1s "Break on Me" (March 12, 2016; one week on top), "Wasted Time" (July 9, 2016; two) and "Blue Ain't Your Color" (Jan. 14; two).

CHEERS TO MIDLAND: Texas-based trio Midland earns its first Hot Country Songs top 10, as its debut single, "Drinkin' Problem," bumps 11-10. The traditional-styled track increases 8 percent to 25.4 million in audience as it bullets at No. 14 on Country Airplay. On Country Digital Song Sales, it pushes to a new high (8-6) despite a less than 1 percent dip to 14,000 sold. It nudges 19-18 on Country Streaming Songs, although it's down 3 percent to 3.8 million U.S. streams.

'BACHELORETTE' BUMP: Russell Dickerson's launch single, "Yours," flies 47-21 on Hot Country Songs. After Dickerson performed the song on ABC's The Bachelorette on June 19, making his national TV debut, it sold 19,000 downloads in the week ending June 22 (up from 2,000 the week before) and re-enters Country Digital Song Sales at No. 3.

Concurrently, the love song, which Dickerson wrote for his wife, Kailey, surges 58 percent to 2 million U.S. streams. On Country Airplay, "Yours" grows by 19 percent to 2.9 million in audience, rising to a new peak (50-46).
