Justin Quiles, “Ponte Pa’ Mi” (Warner Music Latina)
Justin Quiles is betting it all for the girl of his dreams in his new single “Ponte Pa’ Mi.” Coming on the heels of his viral hit “Jeans,” “Ponte Pa’ Mi,” produced by Dimelo Flow, is a downtempo, sultry reggaeton song about crushing on someone and wanting to date them. “Ponte pa' mí, que desde hace rato tú no tiene' gato / Y yo te quiero dar a ti tu mantenimiento, woh-woh-oh-oh / Baby, sé que te hace falta que te besen por la espalda / Que te bajen más abajo y se pongan pa'l trabajo,” he chants in the flirtatious chorus. The music video, directed by Rodrigo Films, depicts a futuristic love story between two robots.
Carlos Rivera & Maluma, "100 Años" (Sony Music Latin)
Carlos Rivera and Maluma step out of their comfort zone for a stripped-down mariachi ballad titled "100 Años," produced by Edgar Barrera. The Mexican singer-songwriter and Colombian superstar join forces for this unprecedented and emotional collaboration that promises to be the next breakup anthem. While this could have easily been a pop tune, the fact that these artists recorded this heartbreak track as a regional Mexican song makes it more grand. Salud!
Nicky Jam x Myke Towers, “Polvo” (Sony Music Latin)
Nicky Jam is ready to bid farewell to 2020 with his new single “Polvo,” produced by Sky Rompiendo and recorded by Saga Whiteblack, which promises to become one of the bangers of 2021. In collaboration with Myke Towers, the single is about two people who are not on talking terms despite having sexual chemistry. “Mi polvo favorito, eh / La baby que yo necesito / ¿Por qué no vienes aquí ahora? / No quiero terminar así, no quiero que duermas sola,” Jam sings in the chorus. The song kicks off with an enthralling piano melody and transforms into a sultry reggaeton beat. The music video was directed by Mike Ho and produced by Cinema Giants and features model and Nicky Jam’s fiancé Cydney Moreau.
RBD, "Siempre He Estado Aquí" Universal Music Latin)
Mexican band RBD delivered their first single in 12 years titled "Siempre He Estado Aquí," a dreamy, nostalgic pop track featuring four of its six members: Anahí, Christopher von Uckermann, Maite Perroni and Christian Chavez. The new song marks the band's grand return to the spotlight after separating in 2009 following massive global success. "Siempre He Estado Aquí," produced and penned by Andrés Torres and Mauricio Rengifo, starts off with Anahí's angelic voice which captures you instantly. If you're a real RBD fan, you'll notice that titled of old RBD songs make up some of this song's lyrics. The track drops ahead of RBD's forthcoming global virtual concert on Dec. 26.
Kali Uchis, Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios) (Interscope Records)
Singer-songwriter Kali Uchis opens her hypnotic new album Sin Miedo with a beautiful bolero titled "La Luna Enamorada," setting the tone for the rest of the experimental 13-track set. From instrumental heavy boleros to dreamy pop and soft reggaeton, the Colombian-American artist's first Spanish-language album features previously released tracks "te pongo mal (prendelo)" with Jowell & Randy, "La Luz" with Jhay Cortez, "Aquí Yo Mando" with Rico Nasty and eight new tracks. Sin Miedo follows her 2018 debut Isolation and her EP To Feel Alive released in April. "This album is full of so many genres that made my childhood and I am very proud of its range of emotions and nostalgia," she said in a statement. "I hope it brings you any bit of the joy it has brought me."
Mr. Vla, “Parcera” (Vla Music Entertainment)
With his single “Parcera,” Mr. Vla (real name: Vladimir Diaz) makes his artistic debut in the music scene. The Cuban-born artist, based in Miami, is also a Latin Grammy-nominated producer, who has worked with some of Latin music’s hottest artists including Tito El Bambino, Víctor Manuelle, El Micha, Leslie Shaw, and Daniel Santacruz, to name a few. In “Parcera,” a rhythmic reggaeton, Vla uses a wordplay of Colombian lingo to sing about a woman who’s had no luck in love but is ready to live her best single life. "Que Chimba (bonita) Parcera (mujer), saliste pa la calle y te pusiste mas buena, ya no te importa nadie,” says the catchy chorus. The music video, directed by Jose Javy Ferrer, shows Mr. Vla serenading a model.
