Rivers Cuomo and the gang would rather be anywhere but on a Zoom call in Weezer's new video for "Grapes of Wrath," which the band surprise-released on Wednesday (April 14).
In the visual, Cuomo and his bandmates (Patrick Wilson, Brian Bell and Scott Shriner) log on for their weekly video chat, but each member quickly finds a way to accomplish the tasks and activities that they'd much rather be doing. Cuomo places a photo of himself in front of the camera, while Shriner employs a body double, Wilson subs in a cardboard cutout, and Bell simply employs a balloon.
While their stand-ins are on the call, Weezer merrily go about their days: Bell trims a "=W=" topiary and washes his car, Cuomo does yoga, Shriner paints, and Wilson tries his hand at cooking.
The release date for the "Grapes of Wrath" video also culminates with the 82nd anniversary of when its namesake book was published.
Weezer's latest album, OK Human, was released on Jan. 29. The band will also perform with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles on April 16 and 17 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall via livestream.
