Olivia Rodrigo had a late night idea that turned into something unexpected, sharing not just one but two “Drop Dead” music videos online.
Just a few days after debuting the official video for the lead single from You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, which showed her wandering through the Palace of Versailles in Paris, she returned with another visual for “Drop Dead” on Monday April 20. This second version is only available on Spotify, and the alternate “taken that Eurostar to France” clip follows Rodrigo enjoying a Guinness in a London pub, filming herself as she walks through the city and takes in sights like Big Ben before hopping on a train with her guitar case in hand.
Her journey then continues to the City of Love, where the Grammy winner performs in front of the Eiffel Tower and visits the Arc de Triomphe. “One night, I was bored in bed/ And stalked you on the internet,” she sings. “It’s feminine intuition/ ‘Cause I always had a vision of us standing like this/ All pressed up in the bathroom line/ You’re lookin’ like an angel on the walls of Versailles.”
Rodrigo first released “Drop Dead” along with its official video on Friday April 17, officially kicking off the era for her third studio album, which is expected to arrive in June. Her previous project came out in 2023, when Guts debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
The alternate visual arrives at a time when streaming strategy continues to evolve. Around four months ago, YouTube confirmed it would remove its data from Billboard charts, meaning views for “Drop Dead” on that platform will not contribute to its position on the Billboard Hot 100 moving forward. So far, Rodrigo has scored 30 entries on the chart, including three No. 1 songs, “Drivers License,” “Good 4 U” and “Vampire.”
Watch the “drop dead (taken that Eurostar to France)” video only on Spotify.
